Advanced Open Water Diver

page-class-open-waterWant to dive more? What’s better than diving more and also diving with an instructor? The Advanced Open Water course will enable you to dive with more confidence and improve your diving skills. An instructor will assist you in learning more about underwater navigation, buoyancy control, limited or low visibility diving, search & recovery and other areas of diving to make you a proficient diver. Just Add H2O recommends that you take this course directly after the Open Water Diver course.

WHO: Those 10 years of age and above (12 for NAUI certification). Ages 10-14 will receive a Junior Advanced Open Water Diver certification which depending on age has a limited depth range of 40ft.

PREREQUISITE: Open Water Diver or Junior Open Water Diver certification.

WHAT: The Advanced Open Water Diver course is your next step in the learning progression. You’ll be under the direct supervision of an instructor for five required dives:

  • Navigation Dive: A dive using your compass to plot your course.
  • Deep Dive: You’ll push past the 60 ft mark set in the Open Water Diver course and learn what challenges you’ll face at depth.
  • Peak Performance Diving: Learn how to control your buoyancy during a dive
  • Specialty 1: Your choice from this list of Specialty Courses.
  • Specialty 2: Your choice from this list of Specialty Courses.

Enriched air is not a specialty for Advanced.

  • Class Fee: $185.00
  • Books & DVD:
  • Students must purchase: Mask, fins, snorkel, boots, knife, slate, whistle, and safety sausage.  your own compass or rent one.
  • Additional equipment needed for night dive includes a dive light, backup light and tank marker.
  • You may rent complete scuba equipment including compass.
  • Additional costs: Rental equipment, air fills, charter fees, park admission and parking fees.
